Why doesn’t my DVD burn?
I have been converting some old VHS tapes to DVD and up to my parents’ wedding video which I need an 8.5 GB disc. I am using Windows DVD Maker to burn my discs and had no issues until the wedding video. I used 4.7 GB discs for the others and they worked.
It still encodes and ‘burns’ but the disc comes out blank. Anyone know what the issue might be?
why do not covert VHS to DVD format but instead of writing on DVD, just dump them on your Hard disk for sake of ease. {The problem i think is that you are using most probably 16x speed burning. Please check the software where it states with how much speed it has to take to burn whatever you wanna burn) Like e.g. if you are using nero, there is option where you have to give speed for burning. usually by default it is set to 16x, maybe your software has such option and maybe the default is high………. so you need to find what this DVD maker software has for the option of speed for recoding/burning DVD.
To set speed, always see what DVD is capacity is like if it says 4x 8x 16x then write on 8x or 4x speed…………..

The Origins Of The Blu-Ray Disc
The entertainment world has been totally transformed by digital technology. Not long ago we were completely loyal to analog technologies like VHS, but digital gave us some thing to look forward to. DVDs began the digital movie trend and is still popular these days, even so, Blu-Ray has arrived and it is far more powerful.
The Blu-Ray Disc Association was launched in 2002 and swiftly introduced us to Blu-Ray. The technology is known as “Blu-Ray” basically because it uses a blue laser to read the discs. This is a contrast with DVD technology which utilizes a red laser to read discs. The electronic engineers that are responsible for this technology took their lead from Sony. It was the Sony Corporation, prior to 2000 who began to formulate blue laser technologies. Their work with blue laser technology lead to the increased disc capacity and higher resolution we see today in Blu-Ray discs.
2004 saw the finalization of the Blu-Ray disc specifications, manufacture of the discs began in 2006. Among the first to release films on Blu-Ray was the firm behind its inception, Sony. This introduction coincided with the launch of the competing progressive scan DVD technologies along with the uptake of the highly popular HD TV.
In the initial stages Blu-Ray discs were very costly, this meant that the movies were as well. Blu-Ray disc players were desired by many, however they were only affordable by some. The PlayStation 3 game station offered many hesitant consumers a bargain that they couldn’t refuse. They could obtain a gaming system plus a Blu-Ray disc player all rolled into one device.
The number of Blu-Ray discs bought over the next year or two sored and production costs dropped. It was during this time that people would also encounter Blu-Ray recording technologies. The storage space which was provided was quite an advancement from the standard blank DVD disc. A single layer blank Blu-Ray disc could hold as much as 25 GB of data. Dual layered discs were able to hold a mind blowing 50 GB of information. This huge storage capacity forever raised the bar and marked a brand new milestone in digital technology.
Blu-Ray is a household word nowadays, and consumers are usually choosing Blu-Ray discs when they seek new releases.
